X-H2 Impression

The Fujfilm X-H2 is an impressive camera that breaks down the barriers of APS-C cameras and it’s a camera that fills in what’s missing in the APS-C format to match with Full Frame camera in every way. To conclude, this is the camera that many photographers have been waiting for.

From field used, I couldn’t open the RAW file right now, so I had to shoot and adjust the function of the Fujfilm X-H2 to suit the characteristics of each image. I adjusted Film Simulation, Color and Tone Curve to give me more control over the details. Especially when I wanted to emphasize shadows. All of these settings allowed me to control the colors in JPEG files without having to rely on additional adjustments in RAW files.

Pixel Shift System has been developed to work much faster. This makes me possible to shoot landscapes many times. Especially when things are not moving or moving slowly. This time, I got a lot of Pixel Shift images.

The focusing system of Fujfilm X-H2, derived from the X-H2S, The Focus System is more precisely, faster, and more accurately. Although, this time, I didn’t take a lot of action photos, but I used the focus of the video mode heavily. I can tell you that the focusing system is much better than the X-T4, both in low light conditions and object tracking.

Besides still images I was able to shoot high-quality video in 8K Process HQ F-Log2, which is highly detailed and can capture a very wide range of light. The light that shows in photos are completely natural. There are many scenes where I don’t think Fujfilm X-H2 can capture all the details, but Fujfilm X-H2 works impressively

I take photos at some of Chiang Mai’s famous temples. In the temples, it filled with red, gold, and silver tones. Each temple was large and beautifully detailed. The Nostalgic color mode produced very beautiful tones. Fujifilm X-H2 gives beautiful shadow detail and perfect for red-orange tones. And if the object in the picture is not moving or moving slowly, I’ll also be able to shoot in Pixel Shift 20 Shots to combine them into 160 megapixels.

Focus Bracketing is very important to take photos of three temples because I want to show every detail of the temple without blurring. Fujfilm X-H2 has an Auto Focus Bracketing system that is very easy to use and highly accurate, which I can keep it for the later process.

The waterfall during this period is very strong. The camera must have a good protective seal, and the lens must be wiped at all times to keep the image from fogging up. The camera body had to withstand the ingress of moisture, and Fujfilm X-H2 showed no sign of any abnormality during use.

At Ang Ka Nature Trail, the forest here are damp and full of moss. There was always water dripping from the trees like rain. I can take macro shots of small trees, water droplets, spider webs, insects, and leaves. I used 80mm.F2.8 macro at 1:1. I get sharp images and capture very small objects better than a large sensor camera and it is easier to control. While taking a portrait in the forest, I used XF56mm. F1.2 WR with optical image stabilization (OIS) without a tripod. Thanks to the Fujfilm X-H2’s 7stops IBIS system, I got beautiful image without having to spread out a tripod around other tourists.

At Ban Pa Pong Piang, I take photos of my wife holding a lantern in the middle of a rice field before sunset. Fujinon XF56mmF1.2 R WR lens perform impressively at f/1.2 ISO400, the images are very sharp, and I used it without any reduction in aperture. While XF23mmF1.4 R LM WR and 33mmF1.4 R LM WR also produce sharp, and high-detail images. Fujfilm X-H2 can capture every detail in very dark area with clear and beautiful, even if it’s a JPEG file.

At Bo Kaeo Pine Tree, I used my favorite XF90mmF2 lens. Fujfilm X-H2 gives more melting effect and softer background. With an increased number of pixels, at 100% magnification, the background becomes blurrier and giving it a more 3D looks.

I went to Luang Khun Win Temple to take pictures of the candle lights during the night. I used the lantern and walk around the temple many times and mixed candle lights with the natural light in the temple. I set speed shutter at 30 sec and aperture at f2.8, and also use multiple exposure system to combine the light. There is no Hot Pixel to bother even I used it for a long time.

We ended our trip at Wiang Haeng to take a photo of Doi Luang Chiang Dao. Despite several days of rain, we finally got stars and a sea of fog. I shot the stars at ISO1600, speed shutter at 30s, and aperture at f/1.4 by using Fujinon XF16mmF1.4 lens. Although Fujfilm X-H2 has a very high pixel but still manages Noise very well at high ISOs. Performance of Fujifilm X-H2 is no less than a high pixel Full Frame camera. I didn’t see any Hot Pixel during the shoot. I was able to use JPEG files from the camera immediately after the shoot. What I really like is that the Low Light Priority EVF system allows me to easily focus on the Milky Way. The views can be captured without using a flashlight, even on a pitch-black night.

Fujifilm X-H2 is a camera that I am very impressed with how it works. Especially the file quality and strength of the camera, even the high details and flexibility. Not only for still photos but in video mode as well, Fujfilm X-H2 is the perfect answer for photographers who want high quality that can use in any aspect.
