My usual race track kit is an X-T3 and X-H1 and both these cameras have a sports pedigree with a superb autofocus system.
FUJIFILM Challenged me to capture images from the high-speed world of motorsport with the X-T200 paired with the XF200mmF2.
I have used the X series system since 2011 and I have been privileged to be involved in a number of testing programs helping develop the X series into a world-class mirrorless system perfect for sports photography.
So what sort of performance could I expect from the X-T200, which doesn’t have the sophisticated and customizable Autofocus system of the X-T3 and X-H1?
The results were impressive. The image quality was excellent which is no surprise as all X series cameras benefit from impressive sensor technology and color reproduction.
The Autofocus system performed well in most applications but was most impressive when panning with the car and I achieved some very pleasing results.
Obviously, there were some limitations with the autofocus system when compared to the flagship sports models like the X-T3 and X-H1 but that was to be expected. I was asking the camera to perform in situations that were not what it was designed for.
What this challenge confirmed was that you don’t have to use the professional level X series cameras to capture action images.
The X-T200 is the perfect introduction to the X Series for any photographer.
X-T200 is a very capable all-purpose camera, with excellent image quality, intuitive menus and comprehensive program modes for all types of photography but with the option of full manual control if desired. The flip-out fully adjustable LCD screen is perfect for situations that require you to hold the camera up high or down low or for the required Selfie.
