X-M5: Shiori Iwakura x Your One Day

11.15.2024

One thing I value when taking photos is contemplating when the “beautiful” moments in this place will occur. I always stay alert even when I’m traveling or driving somewhere. If I find a cherry blossom tree, for example, I make a note to revisit it in spring…, or I wonder which direction the moon or sun will set over this sea, or what the scenery will look like if it rains in this location. To ensure I don’t forget, I use Google Maps to mark pins and take notes. Since childhood, I have enjoyed creating things and drawing, so I take photos with a desire to express the moments I find beautiful.

I took X-M5 on a trip to places that I thought would be lovely to visit in the summer. I went on a boat to an island… and visited a place where I could enjoy a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea.

I usually use the GFX 50R for my digital camera, but when I tried shooting with the X-M5, the first thing I noticed was how lightweight and easy it was to carry. It’s so light that I can hold it with just one hand. I even put a strap on it and hung it over my shoulder while moving around, but it was so lightweight that it almost felt like I wasn’t carrying a camera at all. I used to get tired just from carrying my equipment, so I thought that this camera would be perfect for traveling. Plus, it looks really cute, so I also felt like hanging it over my shoulder and taking it everywhere with me.

The performance was also impressive. The image quality was excellent, and I really enjoyed how easy it was to change the color tones with the film simulation dial and preview the shots on the LCD screen. Film simulation is one of my favorite features, and I always used it on the GFX, so I was thrilled to see that this camera also had it. The performance was also impressive. As for the future… I hope to continue capturing moments that I find consistently beautiful. It has been quite some time since I made my last photo book, so I also hope to create a second volume if possible.
